Home and Away... More FOODIE and views of NEW

YORK CITY soon...

Hi peeps and readers, I’ll be away tomorrow and back only by the end of July. Hence there will be no post for the period. Do still drop by and visit my other FOOD reviews kayz. :)

A long journey awaits me but I’m excited. A new place added to my travel globe! ^_^

I always loved travelling but the thing I dislike about U.S. is definitely the long distance travel and endless pit stop you have to make before getting to your destination. Furthermore having to cramp at your seat for endless hours; I guess I’ll just sleep through the whole journey.

I’ve completed my packing, just left the personal utilities! I am so much looking forward to the wonderful shopping heaven too at Woodbury Common Premium Outlets. That's the FIRST thing we're doing upon arrival; rent a car and go SHOPPING! Weee....

Check out NYC Premium Outlet: http://www.premiumoutlets.com/outlets/outlet.asp?id=7

Did you know that US offers designer brands at CHEAP prices at these premium outlets available in many parts of U.S.! Hence I packed only a few clothing. HAHA!

More photos of the wonderful New York City and foodie spree once I’m back! Stay tuned!
Till then have a good July and I am looking forward to an Awesome August!!

Mum & Sis's Birthday @ Damansara Palace!

Location: 1st & 2nd Floor, Plot A, Persiaran Surian, Jalan PJU 3/31, 47410 Petaling Jaya

It was a double celebration for us; mum and sis's birthday falls on the exact same day! NICE! Happy Birthday!!!!!!!! Way belated.... They are June babies by the way... :P

Damansara Palace is nothing new; in fact it's my family's favorite pigging out place for great good. This restaurant serves quality Chinese cuisines that will set you drooling for more. Prices here are average; depending on your order for the night.

Nonetheless, you will be guaranteed with every single cent you pay; great ambience and private rooms are too available upon reservation. Did I mention every room has its personal karaoke set where you can enjoy good food and sing along at the same time?

Imagine karaoke??????????? LOL! Indeed we had fun… :)

Here is the previous post on the Damansara Palace review during my brother’s birthday last year: http://joanchew_1911.blogspot.com/2009/01/bros-birthday-dinner-damansara-palace.html

I love their Beancurb with crabmeat! The beancurbs were in fact homemade and soooooo smooth; just like silk! HAHA! Priced at RM 20!

K.T.Z 记得食Food Cafe @ 1 Utama!

Location: K.T.Z Food, L-F345a, 1st Floor, Rainforest, 1 Utama (Right opposite Shabu-Shabu Restaurant)

Eating on a budget has always been a concern to many people alike; especially more if you’re dining at shopping malls. Restaurants and cafes at major shopping centers are likely to overcharge with not so good quality too.

Our favorite eating place at 1 Utama would definitely be the K.T.Z Food Café situated at the new wing Rain Forest area. The best part – eating for two below RM 30! :)

K.T.Z in Cantonese “记得食” means remember to eat. They serve a wide variety of dim sums, ramen noodles, rice and desserts. K.T.Z is nothing new; in fact they have franchises outside in SS2 and Kepong usually packed with food goers during supper or tea time.

The outlet at 1 Utama Shopping Center! We stopped by for a quick lunch before watching Ice Age 3! Very nice movie, must watch! :)
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Want something cool and refreshing? The Iced Rose herbal tea with longans is a must order! Comes with sweet nata de coca jelly too!
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

When I'm @ K.T.Z, I always have a nice bowl of hot soupy ramen noodles... They have many different varieties like seafood ramen, dumplings, wantan and etc etc... That day I tried out their "Sui Kow" Ramen Noodles which was really good!
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Dearie opted for the dry ramen version... comes with minced pork! It was good too but I much prefer the soup version! :P
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Our meal was below RM 30! HAHA! :P Do check out K.T.Z next time around when u're at 1 Utama! Perfect place for lunch or dinner or even tea session to enjoy some yummy desserts K.T.Z has to offer! :)

Do Your Part Today! Vote NO to Teaching Maths and Science in Bahasa!

Earlier today after dinner as I was sitting in front of my lappie surfing away, I received a surprise email from my little sister. This was my first email from her; and the fact she was only 13 years old this year. I was totally puzzled and right away I clicked and opened the mail.

It reads: Maintain the Teaching of Math and Science in English (PPSMI): Vote PLEASE!

It seems the government decision to use the language Bahasa Malaysia (BM) in Math and Science had received tremendous controversy and the people are truly disappointed with the government’s decision and the big question “Why now?”

Parents are frustrated, children are worried and the teachers have no idea what to do but to follow the same. As quoted by many, the day the news came breaking into the newspaper earlier this week, people foresee blackness in the future of the new generation.

The newspaper Bernama on Wednesday 8th July headlines reads the following:

"The teaching and learning of science and mathematics in national schools will revert to the Malay language effective 2012. Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the teaching and learning of the two subjects in Chinese and Tamil national-type schools would be carried out in their respective mother tongue" – Bernama

Before the change even taking place, the young children are now hesitating and reluctant to learn Math and Science in Bahasa and starting little petition of their own; how can you expect them to study hard and become the future we hope them to be eventually?

I truly understand their feelings. I feel more so for those at rural areas where English has been a problem since Day 1. Imagine after the change in 2012; there goes the future of the next generation down the drain.

So dear people, for the future of the next generation, the children and more so for my little sister, you can now vote NO TO TEACHING MATHS AND SCIENCE IN BAHASA MALAYSIA at Dr. Mahathir Mohamad’s blog http://chedet.co.cc/chedetblog/

The bright future of the next GEN-X relies on you today! Do your part! :)
Restaurant Harbour Steamboat @ Sri Petaling!

Location: Restoran Harbour Steamboat, No. 19, Ground Floor, Jalan 13/149L, Sri Petaling, 57000 Kuala Lumpur
Tel number: 03 - 9059 4353
Business hours: 6pm to 11pm daily

Everyone enjoys a good steamboat, especially more during rainy days. Nevertheless steamboat is fun; where you get to enjoy the process of cooking your own food while chatting away with friends and families. Ingredients are cooked in a simmering pot of broth at the table.

One fine weekend, we travelled to Sri Petaling to try out the Harbour Steamboat Restaurant. We went as early as 6pm to avoid the crowd. The specialty about Harbour is their herbal pork leg soup; unlike those you find in other restaurants serving nothing but soup with MSG. :P

All their ingredients are freshly made instead of processed in bulk. Food is a little more pricy compared to the usual steamboat restaurant but it was definitely worth it!

If you need directions to the place, call the number given or just simply use the technology of GPS! :P
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

A good steamboat comes with awesome sauces too! Just mix the mustard, dry chili and chili sauce in one! Super spicy and just perfect to go with the steamboat! :)
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Here comes the combo... Herbal pork leg and "Ham Choy" soup! I much prefer the herbal pork leg soup where is tasted so much sweeter! :)
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Bestie who recommended the place but have no idea how to get there! :P
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

The must order pork strips!
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

The wantan and "Sui Kow" dumplings were awesome too. Must order for sure. Nothing special about the sausage though! :P
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

We ordered most of the balls available like chicken ball, sotong ball, pork ball, beef ball, shrimp ball and etc etc... All were decently nice!
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

The table was packed with FOOD!! Yum yum! The dining ambience was great; more so is the fact the restaurant was air conditioned! LOL! :P
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

More balls we had... round 2! :P
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Homemade fishballs! Nice and one bite will keep you wanting more... hehehe... :P
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

That's about it folks! Do check it out, there have been a couple of good reviews online too... PLEASE go early else you'll need to wait outside for a table! When I'm hungry, I never enjoyed the process of waiting ... hehe! Have a good week! :)

Kanki Sushi Restaurant @ Ikano Power Centre!

Location: LG 63, Ikano Power Centre, No. 2, Jalan PJU 7/2, Mutiara Damansara, 47800 Petaling Jaya

Searching for something quick and simple while shopping at Ikea or Ikano Power Centre?

Here is an option for you – Kanki Sushi Café at the LG floor of Ikano Power Center on the P1 basement car park. Kanki Sushi serves simple yet decent Japanese meals in a jiff; great especially if you’re rushing for time.

There are ready made sushi you can buy and go or perhaps sitting down for a quick meal. They too serve bento sets and assorted noodles too.

Overall the food was ok and the best of all you can have a meal with RM 10. :)

Simple and decent Japanese cuisines available at Kanki Sushi!
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

My lunch set came with a hot green tea...
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

I opted for something soupy; something I was craving at that time.
Udon Noodle Soup + Grilled Teriyaki Salmon + Hot Green Tea = RM 9.90
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

The udon noodles... simple... I guessed you can cook this at home... But I'm totally clueless when it comes to Japanese recipes... Anyone has any idea how to prepare a decent udon soup?Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

The grilled teriyaki salmon... It wasn't a big slice of salmon, you can't expect much with the price you're paying... LOL! :P
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Food arrives in 5 minutes after ordering and you have 10 - 15 minutes to finish your meal. :) Rushing for time? Kanki Sushi is an option for you... Enjoy! :)

Did you know the FOOD LOVER has a fan who loves leaving

nasty comments? I guess I’m famous!

It’s disgusting to know the fact that some people can be so mean and terrible leaving nasty comments on people’s blog and DO NOT have the GUTS to even state down your real name! Chicken really! Come on… if you freaking want to leave comments and bad remarks, leave your real identity; rather than wasting your bloody time doing stupid things like these. Do you know that ignorance is bliss? STUPID!

It’s not happening for the first time; nor am I the first person having shits like these to face. The possibilities of other people who anonymously leave down bad comments could only mean the following:

  1. They have low self esteem and by trashing out on others, it makes them feel better. PATHETIC!
  2. Perhaps jealousy ruled their behavior at the time of action? They are jealous of things you have that they don’t. Aww how sad is that?
  3. They feel insecure and insecurity brings negativity in everything they do. I’m really SORRY for you.
  4. Background and education. Perhaps you came from a broken family without love and care? SAD! I presume you’re uneducated else you would have done something more meaningful in life.
  5. One word to sum it all; psychological problem. I reckon you need to visit a psychiatrist for your problems. Can you afford it? Else I’m sorry for you too!

Their intentions are simple – to make you feel bad about yourself and eventually you know stop blogging. And they hope by nasty remarks, they feel good about themselves in return. How retard can a person be? I’m assuming we’re all mature adults who respect one another, but somehow in this world there are ridiculous people who just want to make people’s life miserable!

This retard has been leaving bad comments since 2008 and I strongly believe is the same retard person! STUPID! Your remarks about my “ugly” shoes, my waterfish, the fact that I’m fat and need to be on diet, about me spending so much and more… go to hell. Who are you to judge? I have the privilege to enjoy my life; are you jealous?

You know what? I CARE LESS! And thank you for actually visiting my blog by leaving bad comments in which return I get additional hits. Would I ever stop blogging because of your comments? NO WAY! I’m getting freaking good money every month.

Yes I am moderating my comments. So what? Go get a life and I have my rights to write about anything at all. I do not need you to tell me how to live my life nor should I listen about you stupidity.

Well enough said. Just can’t understand why lame people with their miserable life can possibly do something as retard as this. Gosh please go think about it and perhaps spending your time doing something more meaningful; contributing back to society for all your sins.

To my loyal blog readers, apologies for any rudeness in this post. There will be more FOOD SPREE soon I promise. :)

I will post anything I like...Get a life and enjoy while you can... :)

There are many attractions available at NYC that encompasses one of the major landmarks in the world.

Birthday Treat @ La Casa Restaurant, Desa Park City!

Location: La Casa Western Grill and Dessert Restaurant, Waterfront Desa Park City
Cuisines: Western/ Italian

Desa Park City Waterfront seems to be the happening place in town nowadays with restaurants and cafes flooding the place where food goers will be spoilt with choices.

There is a lake cum park just behind the restaurants; seeing folks jogging or bringing their dogs for a walk in the evening. It was indeed a great place with great view and not forgetting good food too.

So a group of us headed to the La Casa Western and Grill Restaurant at the Waterfront for Wendy’s 25th birthday celebration. I was indeed anticipating the food, my 2nd visit to the place since they shifted from Menjalara, Kepong. I remembered it was for my 21st birthday celebration. Time flies indeed… :)

Great ambience with a comfortable dining area inside and they also offer an outdoor area with a view of the lake. La Casa serves wide varieties of Western cuisines from salads to pastas to grilled food and desserts too.

Prices are ok and affordable. Let’s see what we had that night shall we?
